I Need More Hours

Yes, folks, I said it!! I need more hours in a day. I know I am not alone but in the past 24 hours I decided that I need to do some major renovating of how I spend my time. I also know I do this every year because the holidays are fast approaching. I am not willing to give up some much needed downtime at the end of the day. What to do, what to do!!!!

I pretty much have a routine during the day but that changes when something unexpected comes up. But I can utilize it better. I also want to have my weekends free to do my shopping, baking, cooking, etc. But most important I want my weekends free to spend with my family. I can do this. I can do my normal stuff and squeeze in other stuff. I just need more hours. LOL

Anyway, that is what is on my mind today. Squeezing more stuff in the same amount of time.

Last night, DH, the kids and I went out. We finally bought end tables for our family room. We also picked out a coffee table and back cabinet for the bar/desk/kids' area. We found them at Ikea and DH will pick them up hopefully by the weekend.

DH is also giving a facelift to our main bathroom. If you saw the wallpaper on the walls and ceiling, you would think you need some special drugs to appreciate it. The bathroom is blue and the wallpaper was blue and metallic silver BIG flowers. Ick!! We bought paint and I picked out a pretty lemon yellow and we bought new light fixtures. That is about it for that bathroom. Now I will have to hang things on the wall. With the metallic drug-hazed big flowers, you could not put a thing on the walls. So while stitching on Rose last night, I decided that the colors are perfect for the facelifted bathroom. I will add another flower panel some time next year. For now Rose can hang on the wall near the door. It is a small wall.

So DH has these small projects and they could be done in the next couple of weeks because they are small and not labor intensive. It will make it much more pleasant when in the bathroom because I swear I would look at that wallpaper and say to myself "what were they thinking, if at all" when they chose that wallpaper. Right now with the plain white walls, the bathroom looks much larger than it is. It is our biggest bathroom in the house and it is a rather nice size. I will be sure to take pictures when it is complete. I would love to do the entire thing but a new tub, toilet and sink/vanity is not in the budget. But the pretty paint and wallhangings will give the room new life.

After these little projects, nothing will be done because the holiday hustle and bustle will be in full swing. So I guess that is what got me to thinking about needing more hours.

For the rest of the week, I plan on finishing all laundry and cleaning. I already straightened both kids rooms and will dust them tomorrow morning. After I get off here, I will tackle the load in the dryer and vacuum and straighten and dust the family room. I keep on top of this room because this is where everyone goes when they are home or when we have visitors. It keeps the living room/dining room neat. If all goes to plan, I will have a free weekend to enjoy with the family. I think I can do it. LOL Once my small chores are done for the day, I plan on stitching on Rose between laundry loads. I really would love to see this finished before 2006 is over. I "think" I can do it. I just hope I don't get bored and move back to Tesori or Coffee. Chances are Tesori will take a rest til the New Year just because it is so big and not easy to just put away when we have company.

I better go put my plan into effect. I want a free weekend.
