Yeah!! The Weekend!!!

This week seemed to drag on. I don't know why as I was busy all week and it should have flown. I am so happy to see it is now Friday and an easy Friday at that. My kids have 1/2 day of school today and it will be so nice to pick them up at 12:30 and then be home the rest of the day. A great start to what is going to be a busy weekend.

On Wednesday night, I went back to Tesori. My goal is to finish up the Veneto region and then make a start on the next region which will be the start of the second row of Italy regions. It is looking very pretty and I am loving Veneto. It is home to Venice and I love the motifs.

I also pulled out my little pouch with my car projects in it. Yes projects. There are two in there. One is the snowfolk ornament hangie thing and the other is the gingerbread boy. Yesterday while waiting for the kids, I pulled out the gingerbread boy and worked on that.

I found him in the bottom of one of my stitching supply drawers when I cleaned out my stash. I have no idea why I put him away. When I put him away the entire gingerbread boy was finished. All that was left was this green border and some charms which I finished yesterday. I was so happy and came home and decided to finish him. Well I think I realized why I never finished him. Uh-oh!! I am not done stitching. The entire gingerbread boy has to have a half stitch of Krenik blending filament to give it some sparkle. At the time I put him away, I must not have had the blending filament and it ended up in the drawer. So yesterday afternoon I pulled out the $@#@#@ blending filament and started the half stitch on my gingerbread boy. As I was doing this, I started to think about when exactly did I start this. I fully remember buying it at a CATS show. It was a freebie by Lorri Birmingham and for a few dollars you could purchase the bell pull, tassel, linen banding and charms. It was a great show deal and I did purchase the little kit. All I had to supply was the threads. I tried going back in time and figured it was about 4 years ago that I purchased and stitched the gingerbread boy. While digging for my blending filament, I also pulled out old stitching journals (before I blogged). Well I was shocked at when I stitched this. Are you ready for this? After going through 3 journals, I found my answer. I started stitching him on November 27, 2000!!! SIX YEARS AGO!!! I finished him a few days later. Then I am guessing he got put away as I was probably in the midst of decorating and preparing for Christmas that year. By January 1 he was forgotten because Christmas was over. He was really forgotten because until I found him a couple months ago, I didn't remember even stitching it. I just remember buying it. So now I am hopefully going to have him finished and ready to display for Christmas 2006. I am not the biggest fan of stitching with blending filament even though I adore the results. It is a little slow going but it should be finished some time next week. Hopefully by next week I will have some progress photos of Tesori and another finish off my 25-challenge list. :)

Hopefully I will find some stitching time this weekend. I know I will today but tomorrow night we have a family wedding to attend and then on Sunday a new chapter in our lives is starting. My DS along with DH, DD and myself will attend an open house one of the high schools where DS may be going next year. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I can't believe my baby boy is going to high school next year. I will post all about it either Sunday or Monday. It is something I am looking forward to. I can't wait to experience it through the eyes of my DS.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

I'm not a fan of working with filament, either. I always cringe when I see that a project needs it.

See? That just speaks worlds about how simple my stitching is...I don't even know what filament is! LOL
