My Thoughts on Life and Family and Where Every Stitch is a hope, a dream, a smile, a prayer, a good thought.

I've Been Enabled :))

Well I finally did it. Last week I bought the 63 squares afghan leaflet. I figured I would have it when I finally decided to crochet it. Yesterday I looked through the leaflet and decided I wanted to do it. I reasoned that I could do a square a week and do it when I wait in the car for the kids or when I have a little down time but not enough to cross stitch. It sounds reasonable to me. Then I came home and remembered the pretty variegated warm toned yarn DD and I saw at AC Moore. I know it will be perfect for our family room and the family room will be redone in the next year and it would be the perfect addition. So I told DH and waited for him to roll his eyes. He didn't. He said if I wanted to do something like that then go for it. I told him it would be cheaper than some of the cross stitch stuff I do and I can get a sense of finishing as I will be doing squares. He said "go for it". Well I couldn't go for it, as I still had father in law and sis in law coming for dinner. During dinner I told sis in law and told her I saw yarn at AC Moore that I really liked and I was going on Sunday for it. At 8:30, we went to AC Moore and I got the pretty yarn DD and I liked along with a warm red and a warm tan. I also bought crochet hooks and some bright colored yarn for DD. She decided in that aisle that she wanted to crochet too. LOL When we got home, she was taught the chain stitch and once she masters that, she will move on. Right now she is having difficulty with her finger placement and the motion of pulling the yarn through. But she did a few and will probably practice more when I start my first square.

After we got DD on the road to the chain stitch, sis in law and I looked at the booklet and I figure for right now I will start with square 1 which is the single crochet one. This one will also be done in the pretty variegated so that is a plus. It has been so long since I crocheted that I figure I want to start slow and get myself back into the groove so to speak. Once I am more comfortable I will probably start a row so that I can finish as I go. I am the worst when it comes to finishing. If I can finish as I go, it will be a plus and this thing will get done as opposed to having 63 squares in a bag waiting for finishing. LOL

I would have started last night but I wanted to cross stitch. Some time today I may start the square and put it in my little tote bag for the week. I am sure that is all I will do as I will have to help DD.

For the rest of the day, I plan on laundry and spending the day with the kids. DH and our good friend D are working on the plumbing in our powder room which is being redone. Then at 5:00 we will go to Mass and then come home, have dinner and veg out for the evening. My kind of Saturday.

Have a great Saturday!!

I'm making the afghan as well and it really comes up nicely. It's so great to feel as if you've finished something, it goes so much more quickly than cross stitch!

I wish I could crochet, as I would love to do that afghan! However, I got the yarn for my knitted squares one today and I've started it - I think it's going to look great :)

Looking forward to seeing the yarn you chose and your progress, Mia!

I seem to have missed the afghan. Can you post a picture some time? I'm very curious now! I have crocheted a lot in the past, as well as knitting, but I'm only into cross stitch at the moment (and blogging...)
Good luck with the beginning!

Man, crochet is HARD! I've tried to teach myself in the past and just can't do it, so I stick to stuff I can master, like little xes on fabric. He he he.

I love the ticker at the top of the page! That's cool! Maybe I'll do that with my fertility ticker!

Oooh, you evil enablers, stop enabling me with this beautfiul afghan!!! I like it so much and I like crocheting so much more than knitting, but I just can't afford yarn and this leaflet at the moment. Maybe I'll join in some time later on, also when I've found a crochet afghan leaflet fairy LOL.
