DD Thanks You!!

Thank you so much for your kind comments on DD's stitching. She was so excited to just see her picture of her finish in my blog. Yesterday afternoon I was going to post an entry to my blog and I read the comments to DD. Well you gotta love my DD. She asked me if we could leave her picture at the top because she wanted more of you to see it. Last night, I read her more comments and she was just beaming that "my" stitching friends thought her work was good. I did warn her this morning that I would be posting a blog entry today to thank all of you. She seemed okay with that. LOL

She already picked out another project and has started it. It is a "Bang on the Door" design from the UK magazine Cross Stitch Crazy. It is big blocks of color and minimal backstitching. It is a little girl with a purse and says "Honey Bunch". I will post a picture of it soon. She is doing it on 11 count white aida and is already making great progress. She is at a point where she can start and end her threads and even separate the floss. She is doing awesome!!!

Terri, she already has a stash building. LOL My DH keeps saying that we will not have enough room in our house with two stitchers and why can't we share. LOL He doesn't have a clue. Every girl needs her "own" stash. She now has two of my old Cross Stitch Crazy magazines that she wants to do projects out of. She has 3 more Mary Kirby designs but she wants to do them on the "material with smaller holes". (She did this first one on 6 ct) She has her own scissors, set of q-snaps, package of needles, ort container and highlighters. She also has a small tapestry tote bag to carry her projects in. It is a smaller version of mine. She has a few small projects started but they are now UFOs. She is learning the lingo. She is "borrowing" my table top OTT to stitch at night as her clamp on light doesn't go on the q-snaps very well. That is a-okay with me. I am glad to share. Unknown to her, I have some 11 ct. aida and some 14 ct. aida in different pastel colors for her when she is ready for another project. So it looks like I have created a stitcher. Makes me very proud and she really does enjoy it. I will be happy though when she can frog her own projects. I already frogged twice on this new one and told her to watch me carefully because she is going to have to do it soon. LOL Now that we have the digital camera, I will have to try to take a picture of her while she stitches. You should see her concentration. It makes me laugh sometimes when I see this expression on her face.

We had a long weekend and it was enjoyable other than now my son has the ick that has gone through this house. I managed a good bit of stitching on the dragon including a bit of frogging. Sigh....it almost made me put it down again but I am back on track and as of last night, I figure I will plug away some more as it really is looking great and it is my oldest unfinished project to date.

Over the weekend, I did get my DD her First Communion dress. She made me cry. I tried it on her and it was exactly the one she wanted (dreamed of) and it was the first one she tried on. She looked so beautiful in it. I caught of glimpse of the bride she may become someday. She tried on two in that store but really wanted this one so I bought it. Then we went to another store and there were tons of pretty dresses, but she didn't care for any of them. She wanted the one I bought earlier. It is her day after all and let me tell you the dress is gorgeous. It has little pearl beads on the skirt and the neckline and cap sleeves are trimmed in pearl borders. And then there is a cluster of silk roses with beads in the center. Very pretty. She is going to make DH cry come April.

In sad news, our Church had a fire on Sunday afternoon. It was not bad and was contained in the basement but it did extensive soot, water and smoke damage. My stomach sank when DH came home from work and told me he was detoured because it "looked" like the Church was on fire. I put the news on and sure enough, it was the Church. Luckily no one was hurt and it can be repaired but for right now we are in limbo. Both my kids make sacraments this year and I hope that it will happen at the Church. It is also our Jubilee year and there are so many celebrations and great things scheduled to celebrate. It is just so sad. For the time being we will be having our Masses in our Community Center which lucky for us is on our Church property and is owned by our Church. This morning when I took the kids to school, we went right by the damaged area on the way to the school parking lot. It really looked bad, it was so black on the bricks outside and to see the lower windows all boarded up really made it a reality. Hopefully a lot was not lost in the fire and hopefully everything will go back to normal soon in our Church Community.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Excited for you and for your DD as she quickly learns all the fun of stitching! I love that she wanted you to leave her picture at the top longer! Can't wait to see more from her!

Mia, maybe you could resize the picture of DD's Happy Dance and put it on the right in your blog - like Mommy's and DD's last finish? I guess she would be happy about it :) She sounds wonderful, it must be great to have a fellow stitcher at home.

Sorry to hear about the fire at your church, hopefully it is going to be repaired soon.

DD's dress sounds wonderful, I surely still remember mine LOL. So It's really great that she fell in love with one.

See you soon and good luck for DD for Bang on the door!
