1 Team, 1 City, 1 Dream
This morning our little Catholic School was in the spot light. At 5:30 AM, my DH and children went to our school gym for an Eagles Pep Rally. The local news station was there as was the Eagles Pep Squad (the players and cheerleaders and mascot are in Jacksonville at the moment). I stayed home to watch and tape it and also I just wasn't ready. LOL They broadcasted live from 6-7 AM and there will be clips shown today on the noon and evening news. Our school is in true Eagle Spirit. It was a joy to see the children, teachers, our nuns and priests this morning. You would never have thought it was so early in the morning. LOL DH also brought our video camera and taped it at school. I can't wait to see it. I also have to say that I pity the teachers today. LOL There are going to be a lot of tired children in school today!!!!
Our City is exploding with pride for our Eagles. Everywhere you go, there is a symbol of our football team. Everywhere you go, everyone is talking about the Big Game on Sunday. Of course, we are all predicting what we want the outcome to be but who knows? If you look at ESPN or National News, our Eagles are going to get stomped on. All I have to say to them, is DON'T RULE US OUT!!!! While I admire and respect New England, they have been there before. They have done this before. This is another game to them. It has been 24 years since we have seen the Superbowl. Our players have never been there. They want it and they can taste it and they are going to fight all the way. We have a team and while the media is focusing on one player, Terrell Owens, he is not the team. It is so great that he is able to come back from an injury to play on Sunday. He is just one part of the whole. He is one part of the magic that has returned to Philadelphia. And let me tell you, there is magic surrounding Philadelphia and its suburbs and even parts of New Jersey and Delaware. It is hard to believe that one sports team could bring the heart back to the city. And you can't mistake us. Everyone is wearing Eagles Green (yes, even the nuns at our school). You would never think that it is close to Valentine's Day. It looks more like St. Patrick's Day in these parts. It is a joy to watch and it is even more of a joy to see the expressions on my childrens' faces as they have never experienced this before. Heck, neither have I. I was only around when the Philadelphia Flyers won the Stanley Cup and the Phillies won the World Series.
Philadelphia fans have a bad reputation. We tell them when they are good and we tell them when they are bad. BUT the important thing is we are always true blue. We went to the championship game three years in a row and while we were unhappy we didn't go to the Superbowl, we never lost the faith and we never gave up on the team. (Again, the news just shows when we are bad LOL).
Our Eagles may be in Jacksonville preparing for Sunday, but there is no mistaking that they are feeling the love, hope, support and dreams of their fans. Win or Lose, they are number one in the hearts of many. Thank you Eagles!!! Fly High on Sunday!!!!

I'll be supporting the Eagles Mia despite DH who insists they are the enemy!
