AC Moore Trip

Well, DD, sis in law and myself went to AC Moore today. I did get 32 DMC colors. Okay, so I just picked random but I will need them, right??? I also got DD another kit, a clip on lamp (which she is loving) and then she picked out a small tote bag which matches my larger one. I am so proud that I am raising a stitcher. Last year right before CATS, sis in law, niece and I bought these large tapestry tote bags from AC Moore for $4.00 a piece. They are great. They are sturdy and have zipper compartment inside and out and it holds my DMC travel bag, project ON q-snaps, table size OTT light and my ort container. It also held some of my chart purchases from CATS. Well we get to CATS and we see the same exact $4.00 bags with same tags on it for $15.00-$20.00 USD. Now did we get a bargain or did we get a bargain??? Anyway, DD wanted a tote bag but she is just about as big as my tote so I got her the small size one for $1.99 and it is great quality too. We left AC Moore and she couldn't wait to start her newest project. I think we are having a contest of who has the most WIPs. LOL

I managed a few stitches this afternoon and will do more as soon as dishes are done. I would like to see my car project more done before I do it in the car tomorrow afternoon. :))

In answer to your comment Jo, my written journal is solely stitching related with maybe a personal blurb in there every now and then. The notebook is 4 inches by 6 inches and it fits nice in my bag. I got a bunch of them a couple years ago at the Dollar Store. I just loved the covers and the pages inside. So far I am not tired of these. But I always keep my eye out for anything new. Anyway, when I start a project I write on one page the project name, designer, fabric color and count, type of thread used (floss, silk, metallic, etc) and who it is for if it is a gift or where I want it to go when finished. Then I number the project (1, 2, 3, etc.). That way I know how many projects I did in the year or how many starts, etc. Then on a new page (sometimes, my description takes a page or page and a half), I write the project number and name and then the date by week (Sun 1/2/05-Sat 1/8/05). Then I put the book away. The following Saturday I write my progress. Then I start a new page for the following week and so on. Or in the case of a new project I start a new page for the next project or WIP.

As an example, here is what I did for my new journal. I keep one journal for each year and if I should by some miracle need two, I won't just continue in the second one for the following year. One journal per year for me. :)On the first page, I wrote my goals for the year. Then on the next page, I listed my WIPS. Then on the last page of the notebook I listed my projects by number 1-Coffee, 2-Fire Dragon, 3-Celtic Prayer. More than likely my ornament will be 4. Then I flipped back to the front and put 3-Celtic Prayer (1/2/05-1/8/05). I put where I left off in 2004and then on Saturday I will write my progress for the week. If I work on Coffee this week, I will do a page for Coffee and still put Saturday's date to note my progress. I also keep track of what I buy, where I buy, when it is ordered and delivered. I will also make a comment about the shops I order from online. It kind of lets me see how much I buy in a year and I will see where I order from for the next time.

This journal works for me. I was in an email group back in 1999 and one of the gal's who gave me this idea kept her journal by hours worked on a project. I tried that but I found I was in the journal every time I stitched and it took away from my stitching time. Another gal did hers according to her rotation. I like looking back and just a few months ago, I took a peek at my old journals and it was amazing to see how far I have come. Oh and I also note when I learned new stitches and if they were difficult and sometimes I even draw a diagram. LOL

Well I better go get some stitching in. Tomorrow it is back to the same ole routine and we need to be up early for school.

Have a great evening everyone!!!

Thanks for explaining about your notebook Mia. It reminds me of my Mum who makes notes for everything. Yours sounds like a great plan and I hope you don't mind but I'm going to copy you! A good excuse to buy a nice new notebook too. All the best for getting back into your routine tomorrow. My boss is back at work tomorrow and I have a meeting with him at 8 am. Ugggh!!!!
