Stitching Year in Review 2004
Hopefully this entry will not be as long as my Year in Review blog entry. LOL Gosh, I wouldn't want to bore you all. :)
Anyway, 2004 saw me stitching but not having finishes. Since I have been stitching, I think this is the first time I only had two small finishes for the entire year. I think it has a lot to do with my taste changed and I find myself doing more complicated and challenging pieces. Also, I think a lot has to do with I have some biggie projects on the go. Add into the mix that we moved and you get me with two small finishes. LOL I find that I have grown as a stitcher and don't really know how to rotate. I try but it fails miserably. I even joined the Rotation Board and can't find the motivation to rotate let alone post. Maybe 2005 will find me being an active member of some bb out there. I lurk but never post. But yet I can blab away in my blog. Go figure.
Well back to the stitching year in review.....
I started Cross My Heart's Fire Dragon for my DS back in October 2003 after CATS. I started it before on 14 ct black aida but I wasn't pleased with it. After all this was going to be something for my DS to have forever. So I purchased 28 ct. black monaco from ebay and restarted. I also waited til after CATS because I bought a Grip-It Floor stand to work on it. I pretty much worked on the dragon from October 2003 and the first portion of the year. Since it was in the stand, I just needed to sit down and stitch and tried to do a few stitches every day. By March it got put away with all my stitching things and I kept out a few smaller things.
I also worked on Chatelaines' Mystery 5. I have no idea what the name is now as I have fallen out of the loop so to speak with keeping up on my groups and the bbs. I am in the midst of part 2 there and doing the one over one flowers. Since this was small and everything stayed in one of those zipper plastic bags, it came with me just about everywhere. It is still in the over one part 9 months later.
When I moved in June, I found that I had an AC Moore minutes from me and figured I would get something to spark my interest again. Also leaving near my stitchy sis in law helped matters and off we both went one day. I bought this kit (I think Dimensions) and it comes with the frame and fabric to cover the frame. You stitch the design, cut it out and glue it onto the fabric covered frame. It is called Taste of Tuscany. I previously finished a bunch of grapes and a saying one in the same line so this matched and will hang in my new kitchen. Right now they don't match. LOL So this was my first finish.
That same day I bought a kit for me to stitch for DD. It is called "Daughter Is" and the saying is "A Daughter is a little girl who grows up to be a friend". Gosh how that reminded me of me and my own dear mom. And it is all I want me and DD to be. So I worked on that the rest of the summer and finished it in early fall. I still need to frame it, but it is just finding the time. I do have the frame, etc. to do it. I just need to make DH frame it for me. He does the greatest job framing things. So that was my second and last finish for the year.
During the summer, I discovered Mystic Stitch designs and fell in love with many of their patterns. Going with the coffee theme that I started in my old kitchen decor, I bought a design called "Coffee". It is from the artwork of Karen Bates and charted by Mystic Stitch. The entire design is in cross stitch and I have to tell you it is a pleasure to stitch. I love it even with all the color changes. I am almost finished page 3 (my first page) of the design. It is currently away for the holidays.
I also started a new car project for DS and it is called a Celtic Prayer. I did start it and was doing good, but the past month or so, I have been making lists and other things in the car so I haven't stitched on it. But it will return to the car after the Christmas break.
So there you have it. My stitching year in review. LOL I worked on a total of 5 projects, finished 2 and bought lots of new stash between CATS, the internet and AC Moore. LOL With all that new stuff and the projects I still need to finish, I hope 2005 finds me stitching much more.
My next entry on the stitching and me, will probably be a combined one that I will post before the end of the year. I guess it will be kind of New Year's resolutions but since I don't make them, it will more than likely be what I would like to achieve in 2005.
Have a great day everyone. Chances are I will have a weekend update entry later this evening.
