Less than a Week

until Christmas!!! I can't believe it. This month just flew on by. I think it is more that I have been so busy that everything is just becoming a blur. But that is all changing.

My shopping is done with the exception of a few small things and the wait for the FedEx guy who should have delivered a box here on Friday but never showed. Sigh....he better get here today or FedEx is going to have yet another flustered, angry person calling them on what is supposed to be their busiest day of the year. Oh well, if the guy came Friday, they wouldn't have to deal with me later today if my package does not arrive.

Baking is finished with the exception of me making rum balls. I consider them candy and of course they are for adults only because I do put in a little extra rum. I can whip these up some time this week or even after the holidays. But the good thing is they are not considered BAKING!! That is finished and in a little bit, I will put the rest of my baking stuff away. Cookie trays are made and the extra cookies are tucked away in the freezer. YES!! It was a great feeling knowing that part of Christmas was finished.

Wrapping is underway and should be finished tonight. It all depends on DH's schedule as he usually helps me. We don't have much to wrap but I would like it finished between today and tomorrow.

I can feel myself calming down greatly and it is a matter of time before we are back into our normal routine. The kids are getting very excited and can't wait to get out of school on Thursday. They will be off from Thursday early afternoon til January 3. I am also looking forward to that time off with the kids.

Yesterday we had our Christmas party with our good friends/neighbors. This is the other 3 families that we regularly get together with. We had so much fun and Santa even made an appearance and gave little gifties to the kids. DS was priceless as he was made to sit on Santa's lap. LOL At 12, he really didn't want to but was a good sport. Even the moms got in on the act but I didn't actually sit on his lap. We had lots of fun and lots of laughs and we are all tired this morning even though we were home before 9 last night.

Today I am just doing normal household stuff during the day. My goal this week is to get all of my cleaning and laundry finished by the end of the week so that I can enjoy Christmas weekend and a couple days afterward. Tonight or tomorrow I will finish up wrapping gifts. The house is in need of a good scrub as it has been neglected because of all the shopping, decorating, baking, etc. I would also like to have the neighbors over one day next week so this will inspire me to finish up all the heavy duty cleaning NOW and not the day they are supposed to come over. :)

Have a great day everyone!!

Hey Mia - could you post your rum ball recipe? I made rum balls this year but I had to bake them - didn't like that at all - and if I could find one that DIDN'T involve actually heating up the oven, I would be THRILLED!
