Brrr.....

According to the season, it is still officially Autumn!! Well Pennsylvania has its own agenda. Winter really arrived in a big way. First we had the snow which is not all that unusual. In recent past it is unusual but years ago, we did experience a little snow here and there in the beginning of December. But some time between yesterday afternoon and this morning the temps just dropped. And I mean dropped!!!!! I woke up to 18 F temperatures and wind chills of 7 F. What the heck? Anyway, it is freezing here and the last thing I want to do is venture out in it. Of course I have to if I want to get my children from school!!! LOL

Yesterday was a really great day all around in our household. The kids got their report cards and DS did much better than I anticipated. There is room for improvement, of course, but I was satisfied. I was really dreading seeing his report card so close to Christmas. But it was good. DD did great too but I knew she would as she really doesn't struggle like DS does.

Then there was the taping of the Mass at Channel 6. DS was nervous when he had to get dressed back in his uniform to go back to school to get the bus to the station. He was gone for a total of 3 hours and in that time, I was wondering the whole time on how it was going. I talked to the principal when I dropped him off and she said the only people in the room besides the camera crew would be the choir, Father Castellani, a few of the sisters and the principal. My son came home beaming. He loved it and can't wait to see it. He thought he would be on the news last night. LOL This Mass will be televised January 8 on our local station. Evidently it is an honor to be picked. I have no idea how we were picked but we were and I am anxious to see it even if it means getting up at 5:30 AM on a Sunday morning. :)

While waiting for DS, I finally sat down to stitch. I was going to bake but decided against it. I am glad I was able to sit and stitch for about an hour last night. I plan on the same tonight.

For today, I have laundry and the usual household stuff. I am also going to put up our Nativity set. I have been asking DH to get the box out of the attic but he keeps forgetting. So I will trek up there in a few to bring it downstairs. At this point, I want my living room back and until the wall unit is decorated with the Nativity, it will not be finished. So I want to remedy that today. I know there are other boxes with decorations, but I know I can't lift them. They are way too big and heavy for me to manuever out of the attic by myself. So I will do what I can.

Yesterday I managed to finish a CAL square. It is #55, the parallel post stitch. This is the bugger that was giving me fits. It does measure to gauge and looks fine to me but when I look at the picture in the book, mine is a little "off" somehow. I don't care at this point. It looks great and no one but me and all of you will know it is off. :)

I am hoping to start another square this afternoon and hopefully that one will go quicker. I sure hope so. I would love to get a row complete. I have 6 squares finished and 3 more for this row. Then I will piece it together and put it away til the next row is complete (another 9 squares). I have been thinking of a rotation and my 2006 stitching/crocheting goals and I will incorporate a crochet day, afternoon, whatever. I want to see more progress on this in the coming year. Heck, I would love to see it finished but that is not happening anytime soon. LOL It all depends on a rotation working well for me.

Have a great day everyone!!

I can't wait to hear about your son's television debut in January! How exciting!

I'm inspired now to go pull out my stitching and do a bit. Lately, I've been stealing a minute here and there to try and start a diaper bag for myself (found a crochet pattern online), but it is sooooo hard to get motivated to do it at 1:30 a.m.! LOL

Maybe we can pick a day to both work on our crochet squares? I really would like to have it finished next year, too. Let me know what you think!
