Snow Day!! YIPPEE!!

As I type, we are getting socked with our third snowstorm of the season with this one being the biggest so far. It isn't even officially winter yet. I am sooooo like my kids. First thing this morning I heard schools were closed. YIPPEEEE!!!!! It's a 4 day weekend here!!! My kids were off yesterday for the Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception. I am so excited. DS is up already because DH is having a heck of a time getting out of the driveway with the truck and trailer. It seems that as he was getting ready for work, it turned to ice and there is a coating on top the snow. When all is said and done we should have between 5-7 inches.

Lucky for me, I know where all the kids' snow gear is and hopefully this will turn back to snow and they can play outside for a bit today in the snow. :)

It has been busy here but in a good way. I did mega shopping on Wednesday. I now am almost finished shopping. Of course I still need lots for DS but DH will get most of it. I only have about 3 more people to buy for too. It is December 9 and I still have time!!! YES!!

Yesterday with the day off we planned on baking. It seems to be a tradition the past few years to bake on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I do nothing else that day and enjoy it with the kids. With DD's help, we baked three kinds of cookies for a total of 154 cookies. I am so proud of her. I really didn't think she would last after the first batch, but there she was at the kitchen table with me all day. I told her I know it is boring so do something fun. She said (readers, go get a tissue, it made me cry) okay, she said spending time with me is never boring. She said she loves spending time with me no matter what we do. She said she was lucky because I always let her do things with me and I always play with her too. Awwwww...I was in tears when I told DH.

Then DH who was home early, had to help his cousin. He took DS along. Well DS was out in the bitter cold, helping his dad. When I was listening to them at dinner, I was so upset that it was so cold and worried about DS who doesn't have all the warm gear that DH does. DS said he loves spending time with his dad no matter what they do. Awwwww....I was a blubbering mess while doing dishes thinking about what my kids said during the course of the day. I think we are raising them right!!! Those moments proved it.

Anyway, last night we went to Mass as DS was altar server and I have to say, I love Masses that are dedicated to the Blessed Mother. I love the hymns, the readings, psalms, you name it. I loved Father's homily and I loved it being Advent and how the Church is decorated. It was the perfect end to a wonderful day.

After I got home, I was going to stitch (I have not stitched since Tuesday) but watched the end of Survivor (GO STEPHENIE!!!) and went and played video games with DD til bedtime.

I know I promised pictures but I can't even find the camera with all the Christmas stuff around. We only have lights on the tree and will finish decorating it tonight along with the rest of the living room and dining room. I can't wait. As of now, I can't find the dining room table, coffee table, heck even the floor with all the boxes around. LOL But it is so worth it and by tonight or tomorrow, it will be all sparkly and festive.

For the weekend other than decorating, I am trying to keep it low key. We have another bday party tomorrow at a neighbor's house. I don't even think I will shop on Sunday. I may save it for during the week. I am sure DH will get out but I don't have to. :) I rather stitch on Sunday!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

How sweet are your kids?! That must have made you feel so proud. It's moments like that when you know all the hard work is worth it!
I always like the Masses dedicated to the Blessed Mother, too. All the women in my family have a strong dedication to her. Enjoy your long weekend!

it's a blessing to read about your family! in this world it's rare enough, so enjoy these moments. you give them the feeling you have yourself: spending time with your kids isn't boring too!
