Merry Day After
Merry Day After Christmas and Happy Boxing Day!!
The weekend was WONDERFUL around here. It actually went better than I ever could have planned. It all started with the Christmas Vigil Mass that DS was altar server. What a beautiful Mass and our favorite priest said the Mass so it made it even more special. After Mass we went to sis in law's for the Christmas Eve dinner and present opening. During that time, DH came home and dug out all of the gifties that were hidden away. WOW!! I didn't realize how much I really bought as it was stashed in 3 places with the biggest hiding place at my father in law's house. But it made me happy to do that for my children and I am all smiles today for it.
Christmas morning was great around here. The kiddos didn't wake up at the crack of dawn like they normally do. They were up at 7:30 yesterday morning. YAHOO!!! I haven't had a Christmas morning like that since they were babies. We really tried staying out late Christmas Eve and I guess we suceeded. :)
Everyone loved everything including me. For once, DH listened to me about my gifts. I don't need fancy stuff because it is Christmas. I really needed some things and told him to get them for me. So here goes, I got two pairs of slippers (I wear one with a harder sole to roam the neighborhood and one pair for inside). I love them. I also got new gloves which I asked for. Now here is the stuff I didn't ask for and just love. I got a beautiful robe that is warm and toasty, a new watch (I am so hard on my watches I practically need new ones every year) and Billy Joel's My Lives big CD/DVD package. Oh I love it. He wanted to get tickets to the upcoming concert here in Philly but tickets are nowhere to be found and even if found, we would have to take out a second mortgage to pay for them. I am quite content to listen to his music and watch the DVD with one of his concerts.
We spent the morning with our gifts and then around 2 PM we went to DH's aunt's house for dinner. And what a dinner!!! I really shouldn't have to eat for the next week or so because I ate so much yesterday. But it was all delicious and was fun being with my DH's entire family. I think we are about 24-26 people. I am not sure but we had a blast and came home around 9 last night. The rest of the night was spent with my kids playing with their new stuff. DS loves his MP3 player and all the video games, movies, drum stuff and whatever else was under that darn tree. DD's favorite gift was her piano keyboard. She has been asking for this for some time and DH and I have been talking about getting her lessons in the spring. Now she can practice til then. Of course she also loves all the Bratz, Build-A-Bear, video games, and other stuff too. I think I did good this year!!!!
Today is actually my favorite day. We have no hustle and bustle to deal with unless we want to. I don't have to worry about the perfect gifts. I don't have to bake and make stuff to bring to parties and dinners. We just have to hang out A L L D A Y!!!! My kids love this day too. My plan for today is to straighten and find the living room. I know it is there somewhere because I can see the tree. As for the sofas, tables, etc. I have no idea where they are. I can't see them. LOL But it is fun straightening up Christmas gifts and finding new homes for all the stuff Santa brought. After I do that, I plan on sitting in the family room with my stitching, my kids and eventually DH and enjoying the holiday season. I do have to run out later today to get something for dinner and the usual milk, etc. but I don't have to rush it. YES!!! I hate to rush!!!
I also have my blog entries planned out for my stitching goals for the upcoming New Year!! I will probably post my pitiful stitching progress of 2005 (probably a short entry judging by my finishes LOL) and then another post on how I plan to get stuff stitched for 2006. I love those entries. It is like making New Year's resolutions for stitching. And being true to form, I usually have my resolutions broken by the first week of January. LOL
Have a great day everyone!!
