2005 Year of Stitches

Instead of being a short entry, I decided to go through my written stitching journal and I actually saw I made lots of "x's" in 2005.

I started 2005 with big hopes and big dreams. They really didn't come true because I have a tendency to stitch on big projects or more intricate stuff or in the case of da dragon, on black evenweave. LOL

I did support the US and UK economy with lots of stash buying. I am so hoping to have some of those purchases started and finished in 2006. :)

So without further ado, here is my stitching year in review.

From January to March, I faithfully rotated on Fire Dragon and Coffee. These are HUGE projects. The dragon is on black evenweave and Coffee is being done on aida BUT the entire picture is stitched. There is no fabric showing. That is why I am doing it on aida. I also had my Celestial Prayer as a car project and put in a few stitches every afternoon while waiting for my kids to get out of school.

In March, I discovered the CAL for the 63 square afghan. I purchased my yarn and crochet hooks and started that. Cross stitch took a back burner for a bit as I was teaching myself to do these squares. I actually finished 14 of them and by June I put it away for the summer.

From March to June, I put away the dragon and worked Coffee, Celestial Prayer and the afghan.

On June 7, I finished Celestial Prayer. I also put away the afghan squares. I also put away Coffee.

Also on June 7, I started a Sue Hillis smallish design called "Too Many Tools". I worked on this at home and in the car. Some time late in June, I decided to start back with a rotation of sorts. So out came the dragon, Coffee and Too Many Tools.

The rotation and cross stitching for the summer lasted til August 8. I did finish Too Many Tools on July 1 so that is finish #2.

On August 8, I started "Rose" from Heritage Stitchcraft in the UK and I worked just on that for the remainder of the summer and well into the fall.

In October I started a new car project and that was "Star Light, Star Bright" by Little House Needleworks. I have Jo to thank for that project. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it.

From October to November 25, worked on Rose and Star Light. Star Light was finished November 25 and that made my third and final finish for the year.

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I decided to start yet another project. I really thought this one would be finished but it wasn't meant to be. I started Hinzeit's Charmed Samplers 12 Day of Christmas. I managed a good bit of it but my stitching time was very limited. It is not finished but will be some time in the first part of 2006.

December saw me going back to my afghan. I decided in the fall to redo my squares as every single one I made previously was wonky so to speak. As of this typing I am on seventh square of the redo. The afghan will also become part of my rotation for the year. I have Cathy to thank for that. We are going to do a CAL every Thursday and hopefully we will both see this finished in the coming year.

So there is my year in review. It was a year of few finishes, lots of starts and many stitches. I hope to fix that in 2006. I already have my 2006 rotation in place and will tell you about it tomorrow. This is my trial week of the rotation. I want it to work and figure I will start it while I have some downtime this week.

Yep I can relate to the UK and US economy being kept alive..I have never brought so much stash as I have in 2005. Trouble is I havent even used that much of it..it is packed away neatly in my filing unit..lol.
