Really Rainy Saturday

I think we need to build an ark today. Gosh, it has rained and rained and rained some more. DH got in from work early and we headed out to my parents. I accomplished a lot and should have my dining room set this week. I don't have one, never did, and now my parents' set is mine and I love it. DH plans on going this week to pick it up. We got lots packed and even managed to get some trash outside so we are getting there with the cleanout. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the house sells. We have an agreement but they still want inspections, etc. They were told that the house was "as is" and they seem happy with that but still want an inspection done. I advised the realtor that until my dad had a stroke in 2000 that he maintained the house very well. In fact, if my parents both lived, my DH was supposed to do their kitchen in 2003. But of course it never happened.

After we left there, we rowed....drove....to the grocery store. I am happy to report that my cupboards are no longer bare. I made a quick dinner and just settled in for the night.

I am glad I was busy all day. This morning I had to shut the t.v. off because I couldn't take what seemed like the minute to minute updates on the Pope. His body shut down just like my mom's and it brought back so many horrible memories. I did put the t.v. on while I was preparing dinner and heard of his passing.

Rest in Peace, Pope John Paul II. I remember when you were just two blocks from my high school in 1979 saying Mass at the Basilica that I graduated from two years later. I thought you were cool then and I still think that today. You will be hard to replace in the hearts of many Catholics worldwide. God Bless You!

My Mom was there in 1979, and the Pope held her hand. She was pregnant with me at the time. I like to think that I was blessed by John Paul II. He's the only Pope I've ever known and am sad that he has passed. It will be interesting, though, to see the discernment process to find the new Pope.
