Rambling Along...

I can't believe it is Thursday already. I have no idea where yesterday went. But let me tell you, it was one of those days where I felt like putting a revolving door on my house.

Yesterday morning my boss came and was here for awhile. He no sooner left and the landscaping team came and cut down 3 of 4 trees in our back yard that must come down. They were 50 years old and in danger of falling any time soon. The people that used to own this house did NOTHING to it. I guess they figured nature would take care of the trees. The good news is our yard is now much, much bigger than when we first looked at this house last year (1 year ago today we got the news that this house was going to be ours). Anyway, they were here all day and I was going to run some errands around 1 when my father in law came. I explained I was leaving and he said it was okay, he wanted to talk to the landscapers (the landscaper is a very good friend of ours and just like family). I ran my errands and got the kids from school. DH called to tell me the concrete guy (another good friend) was coming to measure for our new patio in the back. This went on til 6 last night. I pretty much accomplished nothing all day in the way of my stuff.

When I left for errands, I took my square #5 with me. Before I left it measured 7 inches. I had a good 1/2 hour to wait for the kids and pretty much finished the stitching of it (no border/edging). It wasn't looking big enough. I came home, took out the handy tape measure and sure enough the square was now just 6 inches. What the heck happened???? I jumped online and went to The Wagon BB and read that someone had the same problem. I guess it is the type of stitch which seems dense to me that made it "shrink" somewhat. I don't know. All I do know is it had to come out. I never got around to it and finished up my household stuff and dinner and sat to stitch since Survivor was coming on. I no sooner sat down that the phone calls started. I think I managed about 50 stitches last night when it would have been more. By 9:30, I figured I would call it a day and go to bed.

This morning I woke up and frogged the square and pulled out a size I crochet hook. Before I took the kids to school, I started it and it measures just over 7 inches. Perfect. Hopefully it will stay that way. Before I take it to school to do while waiting, I will make sure I measure again to see that I am holding to the 7 inches or just a little more than the 7.

Today is going a whole lot calmer than yesterday. The landscapers can't finish because their tree climber didn't come to work today. The patio area has been measured and ground will be broken during Easter break with the concrete being poured right after. My boss is not scheduled to bother me for a couple days and it is almost the weekend. I have the normal laundry and such today and that is fine by me. I figure in between loads, I will try to crochet some to make sure I have the gauge. Tonight I plan on stitching.

It is almost 10:00 AM and everything is nice and calm, just the way I like it. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Have a great day everyone!!!
Happy St. Patty's Day

Hi Mia, thanks for offering me to send me a the Afghan leaflet. But honestly speaking, I was not planning to pick up crochet again... And I think it's difficult for me to read a pattern in English. For example, the different kinds of crochet are called: vasten, lossen, stokjes etc. I don't know what those are in English.
So, if you can make someone else happy with the leaflet, please do.
But thanks again for offering! I was honored you did think of me.
