ARGH...Technology!?!?!
Sorry for the absence yesterday, but blame it on technology. You gotta love it; you gotta hate it (sometimes). Yesterday started like any other day. I came down and DH was cleaning up a coffee mess. Something broke that holds the basket holder (w/coffee) in place. We have been using a toothpick to keep it shut. Well it wasn't in there good and while making MY coffee, the door swung open and there was coffee and coffee grounds all over the counter. So...okay. He cleaned it up and I finished cleaning it up and proceeded to make myself more coffee.
I get the kids off to school, come home, take a shower and make some more coffee. So far so good. The door stayed shut. I then throw in a load of laundry and plant myself here in front of my "window to the world" and log on. Well I can't. WHAT?!?!?! I wanna know what is going on the world; I want to read blogs; I want to feel like I am among other people that are online; I want company. So I wait a bit and try again. Still nothing!! So I shut down the DSL and computer and reboot. Still nothing!!! So I decide to call Verizon to see what the heck is the problem. While on the phone, my cordless phone battery goes dead. This phone is 6 months old and has been nothing but trouble. I just changed the stupid battery. So I go put in the back-up and get back on the phone. After "talking" to the computer, the computer checks my phone lines, says everything is a-okay and to reinstall DSL. So I do that. It stops in mid install because it can't connect to the internet. WHAT?!?!? I get back on the phone to Verizon and go through the whole talking to the computer again but this time there is a message saying that Verizon DSL customers in Philly, surrounding suburbs and Delaware are without DSL and the technicians will have it back on at lunchtime. Okay....I can live with that. I proceed to go about my business and around 1 PM, I get back online. Still nothing. Now I am getting steamed. You see, besides visiting all of the blogs I read and bbs I read, I wanted to do some research for DS and a project he has due next week. I also wanted to pay my bills. While this box was quiet, I realized how much I rely on the internet and my coffee pot and phone. Gosh, my life revolves around technology. I depend on it and so does everyone else these days. After I get the kids from school, I try again. Nothing. Made another phone call. Still working on it but now it is the entire State of Delaware (I am 20 minutes from the Delaware state border), all of Philadelphia and all surrounding Counties (one of which I live). Sigh.....I gave up. Then DH called to tell me that he heard on the radio that Verizon was changing servers or something and something went terribly wrong and everyone's computers were silent. Well, duh, I could have guessed something like that. LOL Then DSL was on the 5:00 news saying that 75% were back on. Well guess what? I wasn't one of them. But I did get on shortly after 6 PM. So I was a happy camper. All in all it came to a good conclusion but boy oh boy, I didn't realize til yesterday how much I rely on modern technology. I am grateful for it after yesterday.
In other news, I should have been stitching, but I didn't. I did work on my Celtic Prayer and that is coming along. I didn't work on Coffee but hopefully tonight I will. It has just been too hectic around here. But I think today will be quiet and so will this evening. Maybe later today I will post a progress pic of Celtic Prayer. It is coming along nicely and I am so hoping to finish it this month. If not, it will be an early (and my first) finish in February.
Today's weather is going to hit 68. It has been rainy and foggy for days. Last night the fog was so bad, I couldn't see my friend K's house across the street. This morning was worse because the warm air is in place. But tomorrow it changes and we go back to winter temperatures by afternoon. Fine by me. I am going grocery shopping tomorrow and will stock up on Tylenol and cold medicines. You know it is coming with this goofy weather we are having. I am actually looking forward to some winter temps. After all, I did buy the kids new snow boots.
Well until later.
Have a great day everyone!!!!

Funny how dependent we are on the technology. Our phone line broke and we were without telephone for 10 days and I felt like caged LOL. It feels good to be back online!
