Happy Birthday Princess
At 3:06 AM this morning back in 1997, my little princess was born. EIGHT YEARS!! I can't believe it. Where did the time go? I can still remember the moment I heard "It's a girl!" I remember busting out in tears because I so wished for you but was so sure you were going to be a boy. Daddy was crying too and even cut the cord. He didn't with your brother. You took your time coming and had me in the hospital in labor for 22 hours. But every hour was worth it.
From the start, you had your place in our family as princess. Me and Daddy and your brother and your grandparents doted on you. You slept through the night from the first night we took you home from the hospital. I thought something was wrong when I didn't have to wake up between 1 and 2 AM every day. But that was you. You love your sleep and you love your bed.
You loved your brother from when you first laid eyes on him. You always watched him whenever he was around. Before long, you were grabbing anything he had in his hands. It didn't matter that you were not allowed to have it whether it be legos, bagels or juice. You wanted it. Before long you were crawling around following him and then walking around following him. It got old very quickly and before long I was hearing "Mommy, M is following me again!" Then it was "Mom, tell M to stop following me!"
You have followed in my footsteps in being Daddy's Little Girl. For that I am proud because every little girl (and big girl too) needs her daddy. Daddy could have a hard day at work and the minute he sees you, his face lights up when you run to him to greet him at the door. You have done this for 8 years and for 8 years I have watched the stress of Daddy's day fade away in an instant.
Some time in the past year, the tables have turned and you have turned into Mommy's Bestest Friend. You are becoming interested in baking and stitching and shopping with Mommy. You never turn down a trip to the store or the mall. You even suggest doing things together. For that I am grateful and look forward to all the times ahead sharing moments with you. You help me with the mundane household chores and to me it goes a lot quicker. Thank you!!
You are excelling in school and have a love of reading and learning. You take after me in that department and Daddy will agree wholeheartedly.
You have a big heart and many friends. You always have a kind word or action for those all around you.
Eight years have gone by quickly and there has been much happiness and some sadness. I have watched you grow and change right before my eyes. I know you are growing and changing every day but for now I will treasure and remember today the little girl that was born at 3:06 AM.
Today is your special day and to me it ranks right up there with Christmas.
I love you more every day and I am so proud to have you as my daughter!!
Happy Birthday Princess!!
