My Thoughts on Life and Family and Where Every Stitch is a hope, a dream, a smile, a prayer, a good thought.

Saturday This and That

I can't believe another week has gone by of summer vacation. Gosh, the school year drags along at points and the summer is just flying on by.

I didn't post my stitching progress yesterday because I spent the day completely cleaning out my DD's room. It was so overdue and I had been trying to get it under control since May. I really didn't feel like schleping to the pool because it was so hot, so I decided to tackle her closet, dresser and night table. I got rid of old clothes, old toys and a few hours later, it looks great. Today I will try to tackle DS's closet and dresser. His is long overdue too, but is somewhat neater.

We don't have any major plans this weekend and for that I am grateful. I rather have a low key type weekend and we will do whatever we please. Right now, DH is working on our powder room. He tiled the floor the other day and it is looking great. He will start doing the wall tile either today or tomorrow, I am not sure. I think he mentioned something about attaching the sink and granite counter first. The reason I say I think is because I have tuned him out about this powder room. LOL It has been in progress for months now and now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I just kinda nod my head when he talks about it. I will believe it when I can flush the toilet and turn on the sink faucets. LOL

On the stitching front, I am plugging away at Fire Dragon and Coffee. For the past two nights I haven't worked on the dragon as I really want the coffee beans finished in Coffee. They are so tedious. I counted one coffee bean last night and it consists of 8 colors and 3 of the colors are just one stitch. The others aren't much more. Then another coffee bean has 11 colors. But it really is pretty and so worth the effort and time to do it. I will probably post a picture some time this weekend after I get more done on the coffee beans.

The dragon is looking good but I don't know that you can tell where I am working. I filled in the remaining grid blocks from where I left off and am now working in the blocks underneath. But I will post a picture of it too.

I started to think that I am a slow stitcher as it seems I don't have any finishes. I look at everyone else's blog or bb and there are Happy Dances and these beautiful finishes. I was working on the freebie fairy the other day and realized that I am not a slow stitcher. In about 15 minutes, I had her hair finished and in those 15 minutes, I was uninterrupted. I just need some time to stitch where I am not getting up to get a child something or to answer the phone or whatever. I also need to try to settle in a little earlier in the evening so I can work on both projects. Maybe after I do this major cleaning in DS's room, I will be able to settle down in the afternoon for a bit. I know I did that last summer and it was a nice feeling to sit in the afternoon and stitch. We shall see how that goes.

Well I best be getting DD something for her breakfast. Have a great Saturday!!!!!

Hi Mia, I think you're brave to clean out the rooms of the children!
Stitching is more rewarding. Given you make not mistakes, every stitch is one done! You're always progressing, so who cares about slow or fast?
have a nice weekend

I have the same problem as you with the slow progress. If I can stitch uninterrupted, I can get a whole lot done, but I don't really have that kind of time. I expect to get a lot done this week while the kids are away at my parents' house, which will be great!
