Down Time
This is the first time in days that I have been able to sit at the computer for other than a few minutes. It has been busy but in a good way. We have been at the pool everyday but today the weather looks iffy so I figured I will catch up with laundry and housework and food shopping and take a much needed break from the pool. I think even the kids feel the same way. They didn't even blink when I told them we will stay home today.
First off, the round robin dinner on Saturday was a great success. The food, drinks and company was excellent from start to finish. It was all wrapped up by midnight on Saturday. My manicotti came out excellent and I loved getting the rave reviews from my neighbors. I have to admit that anxiety struck about 20 minutes before I put them in the oven. But it all worked out great. Our next one is in September and I will be in charge of appetizers. It will also have a Hawaiian theme. So I need to start looking at recipes for different appetizers and tropical drinks. :)
From Sunday til yesterday we spent entire days at the pool. It is so hot and humid here. We spent much of the time in the pool. I am so proud of DD who is now venturing further away from the pool wall and she is even moving about floating and going underwater. DS is a swimmer and is getting better at using the diving board. Even DNephew finally ventured to use the water slide at the pool. Yesterday was perfect in that I did not lose one child. I always knew where they were. I even stitched for a bit on the Marigold Flower Fairy freebie. It doesn't look like an orange blob anymore. LOL
On the stitching front, I am so happy to say that Monday and Tuesday evenings (especially last night) were very productive. The dragon is growing, well at least the sky area to the right of the dragon. On Coffee, I managed to finish the pink border in the section of the page I am doing. Tonight I will start with the coffee beans which are a little tedious because of all the color changes. But I am so hoping by Friday that I have great progress pictures to show.
I think the reason is I have been settling in for t.v. and now roaming the neighborhood or talking on the phone. I sat last night from 8 til 11. I worked 1 1/2 hours on dragon and Coffee each.
For the rest of the day, I plan on getting caught up on the bbs and blogs and doing laundry and straightening in between. I am also hoping that the shuttle launches as scheduled. I think the kids will enjoy seeing that. I know I always get chills when a shuttle launches. I wish the astronauts safety to and from space.
Well I best be getting along for now. It is 10 AM and I still have jammies on and the dryer just buzzed.
Have a great day everyone!!!
