I Like Scrapbooking!!

Before I start about the scrapbooking, thanks for the kind comments on my new "look". I figure it was time since my blog anniversary is coming up next week. I am glad you like it and I hope you come back as often as you all used to. Jo, I put your order into the kitchen staff. LOL I still have to fix a couple things and maybe figure out how to add to the sidebar since I now have a photobucket account. That would be cool if I could become more computer literate. lol

Anyway, onto last night. We had horrible storms and lost power for over 3 hours. That did not help that we were at my neighbor Stacy's house for her scrapbooking demonstration. Thank goodness for her husband who happened to have a generator in his work truck. We were then able to have a lamp in the dining room to see what we were doing.

First off, I am a complete idiot with the scrapbooking tools. Thank goodness I know my way around a mat cutter because I would have really been completely clueless when using the trimmer/cutter thing for my pictures. It was really enlightening and after listening to the lady talk for over 3 hours, I came away with the following:

1. I do not have to start all over with pictures that are now in albums.
2. I do not have to put every single picture that is now under my bed into an album/scrapbook.
3. I do not have to fill each page nor do I have to stress out.
4. This does not have to cut into my favorite hobby. LOL
5. This is the most important thing I came away with....I can start now with my present stuff and then add pages here and there from my past.

So after making a page which was both of my childrens' sacraments this year, I was quite pleased with myself. I do have to admit that me and Stacy's mom were the only clueless ones there. I saw for the first time that while the other 5 people were scrapbook snobs, I am a big cross stitch snob. LOL They knew what they were doing. I didn't. I just kept saying to myself that this is a learning experience.

Anyway, I bought an album, page protectors and this really cool tape runner thing. I figure if anything that tape runner thing will be useful for small cross stitch projects. This weekend, I plan a trip to AC Moore for some pretty paper and some stickers for when my album comes in. In all honesty, they were very expensive at this demonstration and I couldn't see shelling out big bucks when I can get them for a dollar or two at the craft store.

I came home, showed my family my page and quick got online to see if my blog changed. I knew it was but because of the storms, DH shut everything down. Then I got ready for bed and started thinking about this huge album I ordered. Then I got the idea. I am going to do our life. The first page will be a wedding photo (if I can find one in my attic; we moved, you know?) and my wedding invitation. Then I will do a few pages of things we did before the kids and include a page of our first home. Then I will add a few pages of the kids' lives up til now and then start with my recent stuff which has been since we moved. Does it sound like I have a plan? LOL Chances are, I will be working back and forth with this album and starting with more recent stuff. Let's face it, I have been married for 18 years and there is lots of memories and photos I would like to preserve. LOL So it looks like I will be scrapbooking every now and again. I better. I spent a fortune on that album, protector things and the tape thing. LOL

Anyway, I am going to try to take a picture of my page and I will post it in a few.

For the rest of the day, I will probably go to the pool, come home, have tacos for dinner and then chill with a certain dragon that is really shaping up this week. I can't wait to show you the progress picture tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!! Oh and Cathy, I am so grateful that the humidity broke. It is actually very pleasant out today after the last few days of horrid humidity that you could cut with a knife.

AWESOME LOOK! I love it!

Your scrapbook page looks great, too! Good for you!

You can always find stickers and paper on sale and stuff - I love CM's albums and page protectors, though. That's where I spend my money with them!

You're better than I, I have NO patience for scrap booking. I have tried and I just can't too it (I'm too much a perfectionist, I think). It's funny, I was thinking of encouraging you to come to St. Anne's on Tuesday, but by the time I thought of it, it would have been last minute. It also was incredibly hot (I mean, you can imagine!) and it might not have been such a pleasant experience! I agree that it would be great to find somewhere in the middle.
