My Thoughts on Life and Family and Where Every Stitch is a hope, a dream, a smile, a prayer, a good thought.

Busy Thursday

The first thing I heard this morning was the horrible news that London had terrorists attacks on innocent people just going about their normal everyday business. It affected me just as it did when the US was under attack a few short years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with all those in London. I can't believe yesterday I was so happy that London was going to host the 2012 Olympic Games and now today, I am praying that the death toll is low, injuries few and that the cowards that did this are caught. As of my typing this, my City is under high alert as we have subway systems and mass transit similiar to London. In fact, any American city with similiar mass transit is under high alert. It is a horrible way to live but sadly it is now the norm because of these terrorists.

After that news, I made my coffee and started planning my day. It is going to be a busy one. We are having a dinner party on Saturday and it is with two other couples (my neighbors). One couple hosts the appetizers, one the main entree and one the dessert course. We even picked a theme. For our first official round robin dinner, we are doing Italian. I have the main entree and I am making homemade manicotti. Yikes!!! What the heck am I getting into. Thank goodness I found my mom's recipe which she got from my mother in law. At least all is not lost and my mom was great with her handwritten directions. As soon as the kids are ready and my nephew arrives, I will go out and purchase what I need to make them today. I will probably be in the kitchen all day and I so hope it goes smoothly.

When we first discussed doing this, my neighbor kept saying round robin and all I could think of was cross stitch. LOL

If Saturday night is a success, we will do this every other month and rotate courses. We may even have another couple (my neighbors across the street) joining us. We don't know yet. The first house will be responsible for getting a babysitter and as of this typing we don't have it yet. In fact, my friend K and I made backup plans to use my DS and her niece. Well her niece can't do it now and my DS cannot do it alone. So hopefully S will get a babysitter. During the appetizers, I will run home and finish cooking whatever needs to be done. I am nervous about that part as I will probably need to leave the oven on with my roasted meat for the second course after the pasta.

I never got to stitch last night as I was so tired. I did stitch on the Marigold Flower Fairy freebie for a bit but that was it. Hopefully I still won't be in the kitchen tonight and I will be able to sit and stitch and watch t.v. I haven't done that all week.

I better go and make my list. I hope everyone has a great day!

Manicotti isn't as scary as you think - you'll find it is really easy once you get into it. Good luck on all your culinary tasks today!
