QOTW-Stitching and Learning

Stitching and learning
Do you know it all or is there something out in the stitching world you still want to know how to do?
What a great question!!
I would never say I know it all. There is always something new to learn. I will say I know how to make an "x" and lots of speciality stitches and whatnot but there is a lot I don't know and I would love to learn how. I would love to learn Hardanger. Yes, I can do kloster blocks, but the cutting part scares the pants off me. There is probably more I want to learn in the way of speciality stitches but off the top of my head the one thing that keeps surfacing is finishing. I would love to be able to finish ornaments the way they look in magazines. Don't get me wrong, the few ornaments I have made over the years look "nice" but I know they could be WOW. It is not that I am dumb or can't read directions, I think it has to do with my patience factor. I want quick fixes sometimes and I don't take the time needed to finish something properly. In other words, I cut corners and where my stitching is concerned, I shouldn't. After all, it takes time and patience to stitch something beautiful so it should take time and patience to finish it properly.

Now, I need to go get work done. The house is again quiet and the kids are in school and DH is at work. With any luck, I will get through the mountain of laundry and typing I need to do and then maybe, just maybe, I will have an hour or so to myself to stitch. I highly doubt it but it is nice to dream.

Have a great Monday everyone!!!!

Hi!

Hardanger isn't that difficult. Just take a piece of fabric you know you can spare and make a Hardanger ornie. It's just the first time that the cutting and weaving are scary. But if you know you are not destroying your heirloom piece it gets fairly easy to make the first cut.

I would also like to learn finishing ornies the way they look in the mags, it was a great question, this week!

I am adding your log to my Blob listing :) and I will definitely lurk more often here.
