This and That on Thursday
While showering, I thought of all kinds of things to write about today. I have lots to say but it doesn't fall into a particular category or is even long enough for a blog entry. So I figure I will just catch up with what is inside this brain of mine.
First off, it is one week and one day til I go to CATS. I am getting so excited. I have my new tapestry tote bag from AC Moore all ready to pack my projects in that I am taking. I also have my table top OTT light which I need to take out of the box and make sure it works. I have been trying to all week and it just never happens. Next Friday morning, it will be a matter of packing up the stitching bag and clothing bag and wait til the kids get out of school to leave. My sister in law and I have been going for years. Last year her daughter who is a stitcher came with us. We have so much fun so that three of us are really looking forward to having some girl time and stitching time with people that share our interest. The only sad thing is that two of my bestest online friends are not going to be there. One is an online LNS owner who is very busy right now and the other is a really great friend that can't make it this year. I will miss them terribly. But I do have my very first online friend who happens to live in Hershey that I will catch up with as I do every year. I can't wait. I am also looking forward to making new friends as that seems to happen when you have a group of stitchers in one location. Stitchers are the greatest!!!!!
My DD started the Accelerated Reader program at school this week. She is already finished her book. The book she read is for a 2.9 (meaning 2nd grade 9th month) book. It was a "Junie B. Jones" which I highly recommend for anyone with a little girl. Junie is hilarious. Today I plan on getting out the box of books that were DS's and seeing what she will be interested in. I am sure she will like the "Magic Tree House" books which even I enjoyed reading and so did DS. DD told me that she already has 7 points from the last book she read. I am so happy for her and I think she found a niche in school.
DS came home yesterday and told me he is also an Accelerated Reader. ACK!!! I never in a million years would have thought MY DS would want to do this program too. I guess hearing DH and I talking about this for DD sparked some kind of interest in him. It is a good thing but DS is not a big reader. We shall see where this goes. I don't push him like I used to and that may have something to do with it.
I also gave DS a blog. I haven't listed it in my blog roll yet. I want to see where he goes with it. So far he is talking about skateboarding. But I think this is a good outlet for him to write. He did great in creative writing last year and a blog is fun. I also gave him rules about personal info, etc. He knows and has never given any personal stuff out even about himself. Put it this way, he knows that he loses puter privileges for a very long time if he every breaks an internet rule DH and I have set for him. So far so good. But then again, it has only been one day.
I am getting the itch to Fall Clean. Even though we just moved in June, I am ready for a change. I guess since we are more settled, I am looking at ways to organize better. I am starting with the kids closets today. DD's is first but I need to get into DS's to get the books I was talking about earlier. I also want to go through clothes and get rid of stuff that I know will not fit her next year. Her closet needs to be more user friendly to her. We got great closet organizers but so far, it has become a place where she stashes stuff that doesn't even belong in her room. Looks like change is in order.
I thought I had more to say but I guess that is about it for now. I want to get some stuff done so I can spend some time stitching. After my scan last night, I managed to finish the two coffee beans that were showing. I am really enjoying my new project.
Have a great Thursday!!! I am going to do my best to have a great one too.
