Question of the Week-Thread Organization
Thread organization: plastic bobbins, yes or no? How do you organize your threads?
Great question this week. I do not use plastic bobbins. I did way back when I started stitching but I just don't have the patience to wind my floss onto those bobbins even though I think they are nice.
I actually have two methods of organizing my floss. When I started stitching 11 years ago, my dad made me a custom made wooden floss box. I use floss-away bags and they fit perfectly into the top compartment. There is room for one of each of every color. In the bottom part, my dad made a drawer that I keep my beads, needles and gadgets. That box is my most treasured stitching possession.
Recently, I tried DMC Stitchbows. While the jury is still out on whether I like them, it is perfect for my big projects. I bought two of the huge tote bags with the pages and the stitch bows and that is how I store my dragon and my coffee design. When I am finished with these projects, I will either buy the stitchbow boxes to store the extra floss in, or I will use a plastic container to keep them for future large projects. I am leaning more toward liking them but I will never fully do away with my floss away bags. They are my number 1 choice for thread storage for me.
