No Turning Back
It is official. DH has started demolishing our family room. As I sit here, I am surrounded by two cynderblock walls with wires hanging and wood and brick and cement showing. This is going to be a mess in the next week or so. But the end result will be so worth the aggravation happening now with tearing everything out. There are two walls left to do, the carpet, and this wooden built in cabinet type thing. There is still some furniture to clear out along with taking down the ceiling fan but at least he finally started.
Since I last blogged, I got hit with another cold. Go figure. My house is just germ central these days. But hopefully it will be the end for us. I have been keeping Lysol in business these days. LOL I have barely stitched because of said cold and then there was the rest of Catholic Schools Week that I had to muddle through. nothing like having to leave my DD's Open House because of my coughing. At least DD understood. She was glad I even made it.
We had an enjoyable weekend and that pretty much saw the end to my coughing fits. I still cough a little bit but not much. I feel human again and have started doing my normal boring chores. So I must be better.
Sunday, my son took part in an Altar Servers Appreciation Mass at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. Cardinal Justin Rigali said the Mass and blessed all of the children. It was beautiful even though it was crowded. I just love being in the Basilica and haven't been there since my high school days. If you are ever in Philadelphia and love touring old buildings and churches, please go to the Basilica. It is so rich in history and the statues and paintings and all the ornamental stuff is just gorgeous. It was a beautiful Mass and I loved that both of my children got to experience something I didn't experience til I was in high school.
We came home in time to order pizza and plop in front of the t.v. set for the Superbowl. I loved most of the commercials this time and really enjoyed the Rolling Stones even though the sound could have been better.
So far this week, I am pretty much into my normal routine and last night was the first time in a week that I picked up my stitching. I am so hoping with the Olympics on the horizon that I can stitch more. I love watching the Olympics and can't wait for the Opening Ceremony on Friday evening. I am sure it will be spectacular as always.
That is about it from here. I will update as much as the construction permits. Like I said some entries ago, if I don't get on here early in the day, I can't post as much.
Have a great day everyone!

Sorry to hear that you've been sick again, Mia. I hope the cold season is over :) Wow, good luck with your big projects, it sounds like a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.
It's nice to read that you've enjoyed the Holy Mess on the weekend, it sounds like a wonderful experience.
Good luck!!!!! Hope you feel better soon
Hi Mia, good luck with everything going on, including your health. I hope you'll the rest of winter without another cold.
3,5 hours left to the openingceremony. we'll be watching this too! I'm so glad the olympics are in Europe: now we can see the games live! when it's in America or China or so you can hear the results on the news first and then see the games...
this is great for us, but maybe less great for the American people. our country is about skating. I hope the Dutch skaters will go home with some medals, but I'm not sure...
Have great olympics!
