She Loved It!!!
Gift for a Friend
I finished the gift for my friend late Thursday afternoon and gave it to her when she came to pick up her DD. She was absolutely floored and cried that I thought to do something for her. She has heard me on more than one occasion that I do not stitch for just anybody because (1) I am slow and (2) I do not know how the recipient feels about this sort of thing that comes from the heart. It not only made her day but it made mine as well. On Friday she informed me that she immediately went home and put it on display for all to see. Made me cry.
Here are the details on my first finish for 2006:
Designer: Gail Bussi
Pattern taken from: UK Cross Stitcher, November 2005 Issue
Stitched on: 28 ct. Antique Ivory Jobelan with DMC and Mill Hill Beads and Delica Seed Beads.
Started: January 5, 2006
Finished: January 20, 2006
I don't know if you can make out the saying but it says: "All the flowers in our bouquet of friendship bloom forever.". Kim is my best friend and we are more like sisters in that we have only been friends shy of 2 years and we practically finish each others sentences and we have the same sense of humor. We just click!!
Anyway, the gift was well received and for that I am so grateful and happy.
The weekend was a nice one around here. A little busy but not so much. I cleaned and did laundry on Saturday while DD was at a birthday party. Then we went to Mass and relaxed in the evening in front of the t.v. I, of course, stitched during that time. Sunday was a very laid back kind of day. It is the start of Catholic Schools Week and ours started with the annual Scholastic Book Fair. I took the kids Sunday morning and we spent some time and $$ there. Then we came home and I did more laundry and stitched between loads.
Coffee is coming along great. I am almost finished with this page of the chart. The point I am at now is a lot of one stitch here and two stitches there of different colors, but it is looking great. Some time later in the week, I will post a picture of it.
For the time being, I think I will be a one-at-a-timer with my biggie projects. With construction about to start in our family room, I don't want to lose anything or have anything ruined in the way of stitching. I am also enjoying watching the top portion of Coffee grow. So I will work on that solely. I will also pull out a small ornament or project to do so I can see a finish here and there. I will also get back to my crochet squares. I just didn't have the time the past week and will definitely be able to make time this week for that. Once the family room is finished, I will go back to my rotation with the dragon, Coffee, etc. I also may be having a new start for something for the family room, but I am not sure yet. I will have to see how this break in rotation goes.
Today, I do not have too much on the agenda. I have to finish up laundry and my house is pretty much under control so I may take an hour or so this afternoon to stitch on Coffee.
Have a great day everyone!!

Very pretty. Your friend is very lucky!
What a thoughtful gift! I'm glad she enjoyed it.
I used to love the book fair every year!
What a wonderful gift! Your work looks great!
I am a one-at-a-time girl, too. I have tried doing a rotation, but I get hung up on one, so why stress myself out with trying to do several projects at once? :-)
A beautiful gift for your friend Mia. I love the way you finished it and the addition of the roses.
Your gift is lovely. You are an awesome friend.
