Ouch :(

No stitching for me tonight or maybe tomorrow or the next day or the next! The HORRORS!!! Why you may ask? Well after my last entry, I got myself together and got DS's stuff ready for tutoring. I put it and DD in the van and went to shut the sliding door. I had already opened the driver's side door. As I was sliding the back door shut, I realized the books would go flying if I stopped suddenly so I left the door leaning at my right side and put my right hand in and fixed the books. I never paid attention to my left hand which had left the front door and was now holding the side of the van WHERE THE DOOR CLOSES!!!! ARGH!!!! I moved my body and I actually watched as the door shut on my left index finger. It was one of those delayed moments where it takes a bit for the pain to register. By the time I got DS from FIL, I was in tears and was feeling very nauseous. Oh and underneath my fingernail turned a lovely shade of blue and the pad of my finger is now twice the size it normally is. There went the rest of my day. I managed to get DS to tutoring and came home and laid down with ice on my finger. That helped a bit and then after I picked up DS, I came home and made lunch and then downed a couple Motrin and got more ice and laid myself down the rest of the afternoon. 8 hours later and the pain is still horrible and I can't stitch to relax. I am left handed and stitch with my left hand. I am managing to type this and I have to tell you that it has taken me a bit to get this much written. I am approximating 10 minutes at this point. DH and the kids have been great. I think I scared the kids as they have never seen me cry when I hurt myself and I have managed to break a toe and slice a finger in the past. Actually everyone is on their best behavior which is a strange thing in this house.

So there you have it. I just had to tell people who would understand not being able to stitch. DH said I will probably feel less sore by the weekend. That doesn't help. :) I want to stitch now. If the throbbing goes away by tomorrow, I will try to stitch with my thumb and middle finger. LOL Where there is a will there is a way! Right now my entire hand is hurting or otherwise I would try.

Well there you have it. I can't stitch!! At least I can type even if it is slow. I will keep you all posted about my finger. This is going to be one ugly healing process that I don't even want to go into. YUCK!!

Oh, Mia, I'm sorry to hear about your finger. Please take care of yourself and get plenty rest. One little injury can throw your whole schedule off.
