New Day, New Week
Monday again! I really didn't feel like getting out of bed after a busy weekend. But I did and even though I am a bit sluggish, things are getting done....slowly.
Last night I managed to stitch for about an hour. This morning I felt that I had enough to show a progress picture but my stitching doesn't fit on the scanner (in scroll frame) and I can't locate the digital camera. When it turns up or when I decide to call DH to find out where it is, I will post a picture.
Right now, DD and my nephew are playing. I am waiting for DS to come home. He spent the night at our cousin's house with his cousin. These boys are so much alike, they could pass for brothers. They are both named the same, talk the same, have the same interests and yesterday we (us and his parents) realized they even look alike even though they do not have a drop of blood relation in them. (N's mom had him before she knew DH's cousin). Anyway, N and N are the bestest of friends and when they get together it is always a fun time for both of them. I can't wait to hear what they did yesterday and this morning.
This afternoon, I have to schlep to school to get the school supplies that must be bought at school. It should be nice to see some parents that I haven't seen all summer. I am hoping it is not crowded and that we can go right through the short list for both of my kids. It is mostly their copybooks, theme books, folders and such. The rest of the stuff I bought last week at Office Max and Office Depot. After today, I only need to get DD a backpack.
Later today, I will try DD's uniform and blouses on her and have DS try on his trousers and shirts. Later this week, I need to get to the uniform store (btw Cathy, it is Flynn and O'Hara..bring back memories? LOL). Lucky for us Flynn and O'Hara has a store 5 minutes from here. I didn't want to go to Philly for this stuff.
So it looks like school stuff is getting done and I should be ready. Judy, my kids go back on September 7 and for that short week they have half days. Full days start September 12. I already checked out the school website and our calendar is up as is little notes from various teachers. I guess I am ready for them to get back into the swing of things. I think it is more that I am ready for things to settle down and get back into a routine of sorts.
After getting school supplies, I need to get to the produce store and get some veggies and flowers (I treat myself every time I go there as their prices are great). Then I will come home and try to get the kids to settle in for at least an hour of reading or getting DD to finish up her math packet or one of those book report type things. I have a feeling they will not be happy. DS needs to finish up math work as he goes to tutoring tomorrow. He had a break last week because we were away and took the opportunity to do none of the work. Typical of him! LOL
Hopefully tonight will be an easy sort of night for us. It seems lately that people are in and out of here and I really want a night to just chill out. It has been a couple of weeks since I did just that in the evening.
Have a great day everyone!

How awesome to not go back until after Labor Day! If Travis were going to public school this year (he will next year), he'd start TOMORROW. We're one of the last districts around here that hasn't already started, though. Houston's schools started back around the 9th, and San Antonio schools started on the 16th - some starting today in a few small areas. This is our last year of the late starts...but at least we'll be done by Memorial Day!
Wow, Mia, sounds like you have it under control in your household. I'm impressed! I wish I was like that when my daughter was in grade school, I always seem to wait until the last minute. Our school district started school last Thursday. It's nice (I care for children when they are not in school). Now my daughter will be going back to college next week, so this is our last week together.
Oh, boy, my Mom's still making trips to Flynn and O'Hara (my baby brother will be a sophomore at North this year). I realized when I got to college just how much I loved having worn a uniform my whole life. I never had to worry about what I was wearing in the morning. I kept my blouse hanging on one bed post, my jumper hanging on the other, and I never had to even get out of bed until it was time to put on my socks! And my saddle shoes always fit more comfortably after a dip in the fountain at the end of the year!
