A New WIP
Yes, you read the title right. I now have ANOTHER WIP on the move. I couldn't wait and started one of the flower panels last night. I am loving every stitch so far. Of course, I hated having to blend threads for 10 of the symbols but now my job is easy. I can just thread the needle and stitch. I like that. Anyway, last year I bought this really cool wooden lap frame at CATS from Image Stitchery. I got the starter with the frame and scroll bars for 6, 8, 12, 18 inches. I pulled it out last night with the intentions of sticking my dragon on there to make it easier for me. Well my fabric for the dragon is about 25 or 26 inches wide (I eyeballed it as I forgot how I cut it). So another set of scroll bars is on my CATS wishlist. I sure hope Image Stitchery is there again this year. Great booth!! I highly recommend them as their product is very durable and well made. Anyway, I ended up putting "Rose" on there and I love it. It sits on my lap and I can sit comfortably in my recliner and stitch away. It was slow going at first as it is all cross stitch but some are half (not half stitch but half cross stitch), elongated, fractional, etc. They are still "x's" but in all different ways. I can't explain it but it took some getting used to in reading the chart. After about an hour and a half, I have the stem finished and started on the rose. I am trying to work my way to the top so I can then work down which is much easier for me especially in keeping track of where I leave off. It is very pretty so far from what I stitched with the blended thread. I am anxious to see how it will look once stitches are along side the stem. The stem is a blend of 890 and 792 and last night it just looked blue with some green peeking out. This morning it looks very dark green to me with a bluish purple tinge. Pretty cool looking. I can't wait to get back to it some time today and even tonight.
That brings me to my normal problem...where the heck am I going to fit this in a rotation? There is a need for this to get done and at least one more done to decorate my brand new powder room wall. I guess this would be a focus piece. But then again the dragon and Coffee are focus pieces as I work on them everyday. I am thinking of doing something like Jo and working for one day on this and keeping up with the way I am working on Coffee and the dragon. I don't know yet what I will do. For now, I am enjoying having a new start as it has been awhile since I started something new and something that is medium in size as opposed to my small travel projects. I figure I will think on it for a bit and see how quickly it stitches up. Like I said, the chart is taking some getting used to. Cathy and Jo, I will have to show you at CATS. Chances are, I will take this with me to at least show you.
With that said, I worked on nothing else yesterday because I spent the afternoon blending threads and then about an hour getting it together on the lap frame and putting my supplies in a zipper pouch. I buy them at CATS at the Stoney Creek booth. They are awesome to hold a project and supplies in. I have all different sizes.
It is a rainy day here and I have no idea what I plan on doing. DS is supposed to get together with a friend after his tutoring session. I really need to get to the grocery store but will play that by ear. I can always make a quick run when DH gets home. I have laundry to do and bills to pay. Chances are the bills and laundry will win and I will try to stitch later this afternoon as that is one of my favorite things to do when the weather is like this.
I better go put a fire under DS. He needs to be dressed and we need to get outta here in the next few minutes.
Have a great day everyone!!

How exciting to start a new piece! I can't wait to see your progress on it!
Of course you have to bring it to show us Mia! It sounds lovely. My "rotation" isn't working very well at the moment as I've been so tired the past week but hopefully I'll get back on schedule.
Your new WIP sounds lovely Mia! It's nice to have new starts, isn't it? Looking forward to seeing a progress pic :)
Love new starts! I'll be glad to see it at CATS. Can you believe it's getting so close? Do you read Stitching Scientist? Heather, the blogger who writes it, is also coming to CATS. I believe she lives in North Carolina, but she went to the same college as me (it's a small world, after all!).
