A New Day

After having a day off yesterday, I feel like brand new. Kinda like the feeling I get when Monday morning rolls around and there is a whole new week ahead of me with lots of promise. Of course, whether or not I stick with those Monday plans is a whole other story.

As I type, my DH is having his Mental Health Day. Well not really but yesterday he decided to take the day off and go to his old employer and apply for a job. They are hiring and he left on good terms and is still in touch with some of the people there including our DBIL. He has been there awhile so I am waiting on pins and needles for a phone call saying he is starting soon. I am taking this as a good sign that he is still there.

Besides my normal morning routines, I figure I will write in my blog now and then spend the afternoon doing the dreaded food shop. I shouldn't call it that but it just takes up so much time. Driving there, shopping, trying to figure out what to buy, then unloading the cart, bagging, reloading the cart, packing the car, driving home and then unpacking the car and putting it all away. The only thing I like about weekly food shopping is that I don't worry about dinner that night. It is normally sandwiches or something quick and easy to clean up. Today's food shopping will be a plus as DH will be here to unload the car for me. That way I don't have to listen to the kids complain that I am making them work.
Afraid Of course, after the gentle reminder that if they do chores, they get an allowance, they normally just get the bags and bring them inside.

Tonight DS has drum lessons. He is a great kid with the biggest heart. Of course he is a typical boy and pushes my buttons sometimes but I wouldn't trade him for the world. After all, it was he who made me a MOM. Anyway, since he was small we tried all sorts of activities and spent all kinds of money to have him not want to play baseball, soccer, school band, whatever. Finally about a year and a half ago, we asked him what did HE want to do. He told us he wanted to play the drums. So we tried lessons and told him if he stuck with it, he would get a drum set for his birthday which was in July. Well he stuck with it and my DH had the best time finding just the right drum set. Since then the drums have been added to and DS is still playing them and I have to say, he plays great. What started out as banging (to me), now sounds like something and it is something good. He may not be an athlete but he is on his way to being a musician and to me music in your life is very important. The drums and drum lessons also have brought DH and DS very close together and I like seeing how they both race out of here on Thursdays to go to the lessons. I also like seeing how DH will sit down with DS and play the drums. Of course those are the days I need Tylenol but it is a small price to pay to see the smiles and contentment in each of their faces.

So while they are at lessons, I will finish up the dinner dishes and any little household thing I have to do. Then I will sit and stitch. DD will probably stitch too. I am so proud of her. Since I last posted about her starting to stitch, she is doing awesome. She is over half way finished and looking forward to her next project. In looking at her project she only has about 3-4 stitches that are crossed the wrong way. Am I going to fix it, NO WAY! I want to frame it just as it is and maybe someday she will look at it and find those small mistakes.

Well I best be going so that I can get myself ready to grocery shop and then enjoy the rest of my day. Shopping
