My Thoughts on Life and Family and Where Every Stitch is a hope, a dream, a smile, a prayer, a good thought.

Random Thoughts

There are so many things I could blog about today but they will seem trivial in light of what is going on in the Gulf region. I can't even begin to fathom how catastrophic that region has now become. While we will be donating something to the relief effort, at the moment I can only offer my prayers to the lives lost and to the people who lost everything. To those that are looting, shooting and commiting horrific crimes, I offer a clue-by-four that they wise up and see that they are just hindering any help that is coming to that region. *coming off my soapbox now because I know I can go on and on.*

It is hard to believe that Labor Day Weekend is here. We have no plans which is just as good. I don't mind spending it at home with DH and the kids. We will be jarring tomato sauce on Sunday but other than that, I think we will be vegging out at home and in the neighborhood.

My kids spent the day with my neighbor. She is a school teacher and needed to finish opening up her classroom. Well her babysitter could not watch her children so she took my kids and her kids to school with her. She just called me a little while ago saying they were the biggest help and her room is ready for school to open next week.

I took advantage of the time to do some food shopping. Gosh, how I missed going to the store by myself. I managed in record time and did not even blink an eye when I had to lug it home and put it all away. It was nice having some time to myself even if it was food shopping. After putting away the groceries, I mopped the kitchen floor and had something for lunch. Now I am just waiting on the kids to get home. I got a call a little while ago that they were on their way.

I still need to get dinner ready as fil comes on Fridays for dinner but it will be an easy meal tonight. Hopefully cleanup will go just as well.

I am so ready for the weekend and a little bit of down time to do whatever I (we) please. I know next week, my old routine sets in and I kind of do things according to school. And let me tell you, I will be up to my eyeballs in covering workbooks and copybooks in clear contact paper. For the textbooks, I bought those book sock things that just go right on the book. I also know that on Tuesday I will be labeling all of DD's school supplies. I am not doing DS's. He would die if I put his name on anything. (his words lol).

I also hope to get some stitching done. I haven't stitched the past two nights because I have been going to bed early. So hopefully tonight or over the weekend I will make some progress on "Rose". I gave myself one more week to come up with a plan to get some projects finished. So far, I only have "thoughts". Putting it into action is a whole other world. LOL

Have a happy and safe weekend everyone!!

I heard someone say something about book covers this morning on TV (I think it was a commercial). My mom used to cover our books with paper bags from the supermarket. She would just cut off the bottom part of the bag and put the label side toward the book. Lots cheaper than buying them!

We used to use brown paper bags, too. Then we could decorate the covers any way we wanted! I have heard of people using wrapping paper, too - as long as it is a heavy-duty kind!
