(Almost) End of Summer Stuff
I know we have about another month of summer but with Labor Weekend fast approaching and school starting a week from now, it is the unofficial end of summer for us. By next Wednesday we will be struggling to get back into a routine. I am looking forward to some structure again but I will miss the carefree days we had this summer. Last night I started thinking of the end of summer and beginning of fall and so this blog entry was born.
Household-wise, I want to get my house back into some type of order. I have kept up with surface cleaning and such, but it really needs a good clean. My plan is to take next week off and catch up on things like laundry and food shopping when the kids are in school and then the first full week of school, I will take a room at a time and tear it apart from top to bottom. I really think the kitchen will be first. Somehow when the kitchen is sparkling, the whole house sparkles. Don't get me wrong, my kitchen is clean but the cabinets need to be cleaned out and reorganized and the cabinets also need a good wipe. I do keep on top of the counters, stove, fridge, floor and stuff like that. I did FlyLady a couple years back and I guess some of it has stayed with me. I stress "some" because I seem to have forgotten the rest. I will be checking out the website for a refresher course in the weeks to come.
Once the household work is finished, it will be easier on me on weekends when I can enjoy my weekends instead of catching up on stuff I did not do during the week. I am also hoping the kids will start back up with keeping their rooms clean and such. DS is starting to take better care of his room, but DD is another story. LOL But I blame it on the lazy days of summer.
Stitching-wise, I need to find a rotation that will keep me happy and one that I will see some finishes. I do not want to put the dragon away again. Working on it an hour at a time is getting it done and I will probably keep to it. I have to see what I will do. I am still thinking on it and will post my thoughts about it some time soon.
Today was a busy one. I ran to the uniform store and got that over and done with. Of course, they were just about cleaned out and I had to order a few things for DS but I got the pants and that was the important part. The rest of his stuff does fit him and he will have at least a month or two in his shirts before they start to get tight. I also got everything for DD including 2 brand new jumpers. She is not quite ready for them, but again by November, December, she will need the bigger size.
We ordered dinner out and I am ready to relax. I am making great progress with "Rose". It feels good to stitch again and I am seeing great progress. Hopefully you will see that too when I post a progress picture some time this weekend. I just need to get some of the background around the rose. The color I am using now (DMC 3865) is the same color as the fabric and you can't see how large the flower has grown since my last picture. I figure for the next week I will work on "Rose" til I come up with a happy plan to rotate projects and get more done on my other WIPs.
I am now going to relax and stitch. Have a great evening everyone!

You sound ready for school next week! I am in denial, but I need to make a plan, like you. I really need to get back into my scrapbooking and get some pics put away!
You and I can get our houses in order at the same time! I'm feeling the same way about the cleaning. I guess when you know you'll soon be hunkered down inside, you want your surroundings to be decent. It sounds like you've been really busy!
