Deck the Halls
It was a really busy weekend around here and I really thought I would get nothing Christmas-y done. First off, DD had a bday party on Friday night, then we had a party on Saturday night and then yesterday we spent the day getting our Christmas tree. I planned on no shopping or decorating at all this weekend. Well it turned out very well in our house.
First off, Saturday afternoon, DH, the kids and I went to Michael's to get a few Christmas decorations. I then ended up at Kohl's and purchased a few things. I felt good about going to the bday party on Saturday night knowing I was one gift and one decoration closer to Christmas.
Yesterday we trekked out to a tree farm. What a mess!!!! It snowed Saturday night and we woke up to about less than an inch along with some ice. We planned this excusion with our good neighborhood friends and left bright and early yesterday morning. We get to the farm to cut down our tree and we ended up walking, and walking and walking some more in the mud, ice, snow and general coldness. Not one family found the "perfect" tree. So we did what any other people would do. We went to lunch. We had a good time at the restaurant and then came home. The guys dropped the women and children at home and went 5 minutes away to our Church and 15 minutes later they bought pre-cut trees. Our tree is very pretty and we will decorate it tonight. Since we had this huge lunch, I wasn't about to cook dinner so around 4 PM, DH, the kids and I got in the car and went Christmas shopping. I did pretty well last night and I am happy to say that I am about 80% finished with gifts. Of course, I have just barely started the kids but they will be finished in the next week or so.
I woke up pretty happy this morning knowing that I have lots more gifts bought than last week. I am making soup for dinner and will start that in a little bit. In between I need to get laundry done and I plan on doing some decorating in the dining room.
If I get a chance, I will make some more cookie dough to have in the fridge. I made cookie dough last week and I will probably bake that tonight while the tree is being trimmed. I do put some ornaments up but nowadays I leave it to DH and the kids. My kids are at an age where they love doing it and I enjoy watching them.
Tomorrow night I will go out with my best friend and we will go to a few stores and maybe the mall. I KNOW I will definitely get a good chunk of my kids finished tomorrow night.
I am happy how things are going and even though I will have to make more shopping trips this year, I still have enough time to get everything done. I am working away on 12 Days of Chrismas and I promise to take pictures to post this week. I may just see this finished, framed and hung before Christmas Eve. :)
Well I best be getting my soup started and laundry in the dryer. Have a great day everyone!!

Wow sounds like you have Christmas in the bag, so to speak!!! I can't beleive how this time of year I;m struggling to find the time to stitch.
Hugs
ACK! Laundry! Thanks for reminding me!
What a wonderful weekend. Even with the cold, unfruitful tree cutting trip, you made everything fun! Congrats on being on top of your shopping - and laundry, lol!
It sounds like you're really on top of everything, Mia! I felt really good the other week when I got the shopping done for the kids, but now I'm starting to get antsy again. I haven't bought anything for Rob yet, or for anyone in my family!!! I'm so jealous that you have your tree up. We won't have a chance to decorate ours until this weekend.
