Another Busy Day...

Right now as I type, the mason is here laying out the form for the patio. The concrete should be poured either later today or tomorrow. But let me back up a bit........yesterday I left to get the kids from school and do a grocery run for dinner. I left this house and the mason was here with his helper doing the last minute stuff before the form needed to be laid out. I happily pick up the kids, go to the Acme and come home. As I approach my house I see the following:
DH's truck/trailer
BIL's truck
FIL's truck
Mason's truck
Mason's Dad's truck
Landscaper's truck
Landscaper's other truck with some machine on it
What the @#@* happened?? I get out of the car and go in the back where the construction is being done. Well two weeks before we have 55 people here for DD's First Holy Communion, my yard is trashed. Seriously!!!! I now have a form for a patio and dirt for a backyard. There is no way no how grass will grow and no way no how sod can be laid and survive 55 people. What the #$(#*$ am I going to do?? DH's has some 'splaining to do!!!!

Okay DH advises me calmly I might add that the yard had to be regraded so the water will flow away from the house and not leave little ponds all over when it rains hard. Okaaaayyyyyy!!! Got it!! Since it had to be regraded all the dirt dug from the patio construction was laid out all over the yard with this machine. Okaaayayyyyyy!!!! Got it!!! Now answer me this!!!! What the #$#$# are we going to do with not one blade of grass??? Ummmm....don't know!!! So we do what any other red blooded person would do. We had dinner. After dinner, the landscaper and his son came back (thank goodness these are really good family friends doing all this work) and talk to DH. Now the plan is patio gets poured and dries....D comes back and sods the perimeter of said patio...dirt stays and will be seeded after said party. Not much I can do but at least we will have a blade or two of grass in our yard on April 30.

After I did dishes and gabbed with some neighbors, I came in and managed to stitch. Stitching really sooths and destresses. Everyone should do it. It would keep them calm. LOL

So now here I sit and really, I am laughing about my yard now. You should see this machine thing sitting in the back of the yard. I am now probably the talk of the neighborhood but I don't care. I will have the bestest yard around when the dirt settles (literally).

So for today, I plan on laundry, straightening, a quick mop of the kitchen floor and dinner and then stitching. I can't sweat the small stuff. It really will be great in the end. If I get a chance I will take a picture to share with you. I can't do it with all these people around. they just wouldn't get it!!!

Have a great one everyone!! As soon as I have another cup of coffee, I will be having a great day too.

I'm sure your guests will understand about the yard. Any you're right, you will have the best yard in the neighbourhood soon! Somehow I've been given the job of baking and decorating a confirmation cake for Sunday. Yikes! And we have family staying for the weekend. I am *really* going to have to do some serious cleaning and tidying on Friday (I'm taking the day off work). Hope you are enjoying the nice weather and try not to stress about having everything perfect for the party.

Oh boy! I'm glad you're able to laugh about it. Your DD will be so beautiful that day, no one will even care about the back yard. I'm sorry it's not really the right time for such a mess!

Oh, and Stock's is near Lehigh Ave in Port Richmond, not far from Aramingo Ave. on the other side of Center City. They specialize in pound cake with the best icing in the whole world. They literally made every cake for every special occasion in my whole life-First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Graduation, Wedding, everything!

I know it's not great timing, but it sounds like it'll be worth it when it's done :) Definitely don't stress - I'm sure people will understand and your DD will be the focus of attention anyway.

I'm sure you'll have a GREAT day!
