Happy Birthday Baby!!!!!

My baby turns 7 today. Gosh it seems like yesterday that she was born. But then again, I feel that way about my DS who just turned 11. Where does the time go? It seems I blinked and here I am with a young girl and an almost teenager. Meanwhile, I feel like I haven't changed a bit.

Anyway, Daddy's Girl and our princess and angel and sunshine turns 7. Last night she helped me bake her cake. She was so excited and we had a lot of fun. She wants to be a "cooker" when she grows up. One of her idols is Emeril.

She also wants to stitch like mommy so after many of those kiddy kits from AC Moore, I decided to surprise her with her first chart and kitted it all up. I chose the Where is Mary Kirby? designs from Brightneedle as they seem pretty straightforward for a young girl of 7. I purchased 6 ct. fabric last year at CATS and also these loooonnnnngg size 22 tapestry needles. On Sunday I kitted up the chart, cut the fabric, put it in my 8" q-snaps and pulled the DMC. I gave her a pair of my old stork scissors and even a little container to put her orts. I also put in a purple highlighter so she can keep track of her chart. I put it all in one of those cool zipper bags and left it on the kitchen table. She must have walked past it 100 times not even giving it a second thought. Well she probably just thought I decided to start something new. She knows me too well and my husband has taken to calling her "Mini Me" as she may look like him but she has my personality to a tee. Hopefully that is not a bad thing in years to come. :) After she got her jammies on, I presented her with the bag. You would have thought the kid won the lottery. She was so excited, opening it up and examining everything. So how could I say "no" at 10:30 PM and there we went to my bed and sat for about 1/2 hour while I got her started. She has stitched everyday since and is 1/2 way finished. I am so proud of her. She is already eyeing up her next project IN MY STASH!!! Ack, what did I create? But that is fine with me. I share. And little does she know, I bought some more of those Brightneedle designs for her in anticipation of this special day.

So tonight after we sing Happy Birthday and have cake and ice cream and open presents, we will both settle in to stitch. Her on her design and me on mine. These are moments I will treasure forever.

I guess kids will always be kids in the eyes of their parents! My Grandmother still refers to my Dad as her "Little Baby Boy"!
